I do art and design, but mostly architecture.

NYC Parks

Date : November 28, 2015

Here’s what I think.

Van Cortlandt Park – I like, and it gets me out of Manhattan, big open fields, and if it’s not raining next time I were there, I would cross the fields and be able to get out of New York City limits.

Brooklyn Bridge Park – I like, the view looking back at Manhattan is nice, the sunsets are nice, and of course, I like the carousel.

Central Park – I like pockets of it, but it also associates with old memories that are still too recent.

The Cloister – I like the museum, the park is easy for me to get to, but again, old memories that are still too recent.

Inwood Hill Park – Again, memories; and through the grape vine, i heard a grad school friend went missing there…mmm….

Chelsea Pier – I like walking along the water, but after Brooklyn Bridge Park, this one dropped a little lower on my list, BBP has more variety of spaces, of course, the carousel!

The Highline – I like the newest/last section they opened, the older parts are too crowded.

Roosevelt Island – This has dropped way down on my list, I no longer like it, I mean I still appreciate the architecture/design, but I no longer like the environment/atmosphere there.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden – Need to go back when the cherry blossoms are in bloom!

Battery Park – Too touristy, because that’s also where the boats to see the statue of liberty are, I don’t know, things just felt haphazard.

Teardrop Garden – eh, okay, cute little thing inside a residential complex.

I was just thinking today, it took me a long time I get settled in this new city life.  Not quite 2.5 years yet, 2 years and 3 months.  The first 13 months were a complete write off, they were rolled into a ball of complete haze or something.  The last 14 months were when I actually started “LIVING” this city, the last 8 months with this new job made it feel more permanent.   And slowly putting different parts of my life back together, having saving, make plan, buy furniture…shoring up my finances was a big big step.
