The New American Dream
Date : September 17, 2013
Something to ponder…
Something to remember when architects try to make proposals for the next utopian home, it is not what they think it is, or what worked (or seemed possible) before wouldn’t apply to the current socioeconomic conditions. The optimism is gone. How do you design for an unexcited and tired user/audience? How do you inject “dream” back into the practical? I can empathize the melancholy, because I feel like I am part of demographic described in the article; I am repaying student loans I took out for my education, and look forward to the day that I will no longer be making these payments…which might be some decades from now. My dream home may only exist as paper architecture.
Cloudy day with a chance of optimism…
